Images & Information – FBI database
This project involves curating and arranging images from various online
sources to create a unique perspective through thoughtful design. By
experimenting with different organizational structures, the goal
was to uncover hidden meanings
within the images, ultimately crafting
a piece that engages and resonates with the audience.
Better Have My Money uses curated images of 52 unknown bank robbers
from the FBI’s database, designed to resemble currency, as a unique
information design piece. The robbers are grouped by four U.S. regions
(North, South, West, Midwest) based on their crime locations. Notably, 39
of the 52 unknown bank robbers originated from the Midwest, while the
remaining 13 were dispersed across
the North, South, and West.
Presenting the 52 unknown bank robbers on currency serves multiple
purposes. By placing their photos on
bills—typically reserved for figures
of great importance—the project delivers satirical commentary. Each
bill also includes key details about the robber, such as whether they used a weapon, their threat level, and if there’s a bounty on their head. Visually, the uneven distribution of unidentified robbers across regions is highlighted by the varying thickness of each stack.
